New Smoking Cessation Program

The Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport has launched a new health initiative that tackles one of the number one cause of preventable death and disease- smoking.

The City of Lakes Family Health Team has been approved to deliver two key elements of this program- nicotine replacement therapy and a comprehensive smoking cessation program. This will be a free 5-week treatment and counselling course for patients who want to stop smoking.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health will partner with our team by providing training and support services.

The program is expected to be launched in mid-2011. Look for more details in the coming months on our website or on the information boards in our reception areas.
