Today, MPP Glenn Thibeault announced $447,911 of capital funding for leasehold improvements to support a new clinic in Chelmsford. The government has also increased annual base funding for the Family Health Team by $408,894 to hire a team of interdisciplinary healthcare providers including a nurse practitioner, registered nurse and other allied healthcare workers. The new site will house four family physicians serving over 5,000 patients.
“I’m thrilled that the City of Lakes Family team is expanding into Chelmsford. This means that thousands more people in that community and across the City of Greater Sudbury will have quick access to a family doctor. This is all part of our government’s goal to improve the quality of health care and put patients first.” said Glenn Thibeault.
Board Chair, Dr. Chris McKibbon, MPP Thibeault and Mayor Bigger unveiled a 'Future Home of the City of Lakes Family Health Team' sign. The clinic is expected to be open later in 2016 once renovations have been completed.
