The City of Lakes Family Health Team is one of four health teams in Ontario selected by eHealth Ontario to participate in a pilot program for personal health records.
Other sites include McMaster University, Queen’s University and North York.
A personal health record is one component of a patient portal that can also offer electronic messaging between physicians and patients, as well as a self-scheduling feature for booking appointments.
The pilot is intended to assess the viability of offering patients access to a patient portal.
Our electronic medical record system, Practice Solutions, offers a secure, web-based patient portal option called MyDoctor.ca.Currently three of our family physicians are piloting MyDoctor.ca with 200 patients located at our Sudbury and Val Caron clinics.
The Centre for Rural and Northern Health Research at Laurentian University is conducting the evaluation component.
A key feature of the portal gives patients access to their electronic medical records and allows them to track personal health information.
